IN THIS LESSON

Learners will search for markers in a familiar setting using a map.

Explicit

This lesson will help learners to recognise simple features of a map. It will allow learners to understand that objects are represented by icons and allow them to use positional language within real life context.

Connect the Learning

Meaningful maps allow measures to be taken to create a balance between ecosystem, monitor different terrains, and track conservation activities. Orienteering allows learners to understand and compare different terrains and that the original meaning of orientation is “to cross an unknown land”. Mapping helps conservationists visualise and analyse ecosystems, monitoring changes in land cover and plan/prioritise areas for protection.
